Little Man! Chihuahua Adult Male for sale in Manhattan, New York

My story
Little Man is a 6 year old, 17 pound male chihuahua mix who arrived from Tijuana in July. He came into rescue when his military owner had to move away. Little Man is a very special all-around great and sweet dog! A couple weeks after he arrived he was sadly diagnosed with a heart condition and he is looking for a special friend who is around a lot and can follow his medication schedule and really pamper him with love. Full health disclosure - the specialist we took him to gave him up to a year to live, but we are very hopeful after seeing him really blossoming in his foster home after he got started on the medications two months ago. On his last appointment he had improved so much that he can wait 3 months for his next follow-up with the cardiologist. Little Man is very calm and gentle and spends most of the day sleeping. Once he warms up to you, he will follow you around like a shadow. He likes to snuggle up next to you, but is also independent enough that he will retreat to his bed and sleep through the night in his own space. Because of his condition, he needs to stay low activity - he's happy going for short walks around the block on his own pace. He's very mellow and doesn't really bark, though when his person returns home, he will run laps around the apartment, wagging his tail like crazy while making happy squeaky sounds! He is a funny little one, and will also have a few spikes of energy throughout the day where he loves to play fetch with his toys! He can howl and cry a bit when his favorite people leave him alone for too long - he would be the perfect companion for someone who works from home! He's at his happiest when he is napping the day away in close proximity to his people. He walks great on a leash and is calm around other dogs, and does well with cats also. He's a smart one who learns easily, and is very food motivated! He's pee pad trained within a small area (such as a playpen.) Some of the heart medications he is on are diuretics which means he drinks a lot of water and needs the bathroom frequently. In his foster home, he goes to the backyard door to signal that he needs to pee (about every 2 hours when he is awake.)Medication details: Currently, Little Man is prescribed 4 different heart medications. 3 of them needs to be given twice a day (every 12 hours). 1 of them needs to be given three times a day (every 8 hours). Vaccinated for dhpp and rabies.
